      Guy E. Salls, Purple Heart recipient

      Guy E. Salls, 83, of Fulton, died Thursday, July 31, 2003 at V.A. Medical Center, Syracuse.

      He was an Army veteran of WW II, where he received a purple heart at the Battle of the Bulge.

      He retired from the Fulton Water Department. Previously he owned and operated Salls Grocery Store in Fulton and worked at Armstrong Cork, also in Fulton. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

      He was an avid hunter.

      Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Janice B. of Fulton; two daughters, Eileen (Mel) Olver of Rochester and Linda Testi of Fulton; a son, Duane (Holli) of Northbrook, Ill., a sister-in-law, Melvina Salls of Saranac Lake; a brother-in-law, Douglas (Jane) Barton of Sun City, Ariz.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

      Services were Monday at Foster Funeral Home, Fulton. Burial was in Mt. Adnah Cemetery in Fulton.

      Donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Syracuse Chapter, 7030 East Genesee St., Fayetteville, N.Y. 13066.
