  • Notes
    • Daniel's pension certificate number is 44407.
He died on a railroad freight car between Washington, D.C. & Alexandria, Virginia when the train went under a bridge & he was carried off the top of the car.
Daniel's wife, Priscillia, in her first application for a pension, claimed no children, but, a child, Jessie was born to her on September 18, 1864 in Tennesee. The official file indicated some question as to who was the father. Soon after the end of the war she went to Dayton, Ohio, where she lived with a brother, V.S. Pottle at 14 Brown Street. Her behavior & reputation were not good. Priscilla was said to be living as wife to her brother, & was belivied to have a son by him. Another brother was in prison for murder. In view of her character, or apparent lack of it, it was probably best that Daniel's life with her was so short.
