  • Notes
    • Daniel was one of 111 members listed in the 1804-1823 minutes of the Nelson Masionic Lodge of Clarenceville, Quebec, Canada. He requested withdrawel from that lodge in protest of a move to obtain a warrent from England on October 30, 1823. But, George Salls (1781-1872) agreed to pay Daniel's part of the fee for registration in the Grand Lodge of England under the District Grand Lodge at Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This difference of opinion resulted in a split into two lodges. (Source: Freemasonry in Bedford, Quebec, Canada, by: Homer A. Mitchell, Past Grand Master, 124 pages published about 1945.)

Daniel's gravestone was found in 1941 by Worth A. Shampeny of Rochester, Vermont. It had two insriptions:
Elizabeth, wife of D. Salls, died December 24, 1857, age 72 years.
Mr. Daniel Salls, died February 1845, age 61 years.
